Mewtwo: the creation

We finished the novel Frankenstein in English class recently, and to be honest it wasn't at all what I expected. Granted, I was forewarned that it wasn't like the horror films and Halloween themes that so many people associate it with. I wasn't knowing what I was really expecting. I just wasn't expiring to be that much focus on the relationship between the creature and its creator.

The making of Mewtwo
There isn't too much I can connect to with the book relating to Pokemon. I might have wanted to pick a broader topic. But off the top of my head, I feel like Frankenstein has some similarities to one of the most famous Pokemon in the very original Pokemon games. As you can probably read the title, you probably already know what I'm talking about. The legendary Pokemon Mewtwo.

To start off, both are them are living creations. Frankenstein's creation as we all know, was created by, well, Frankenstein. Mewtwo was created by the nefarious Team Rocket. Both creators had an ulterior motive for the project, Frankenstein's being an experiment for science, and the Rocket gang wished to use it to take over the world.

The most striking similarity is how these two act. Both the creature and Mewtwo are already self-aware, meaning they already know a lot about the world. Both go through a strenuous internal conflict, Mewtwo's being that he didn't know his purpose and right from wrong. Mewtwo, like the creature, also feels a tinge of angst when he realizes that he does not have a past to look back on, and that he was merely a creation. He tries to fit in with the evil environment he was thrown in, but he is looked as a freak.

The creature goes on a murderous rampage. Pokemon is (at the time) rated G, so of course they didn't have that. What they did have, though, was as similar as a G rated show can get to a murderous rampage. Mewtwo gets fed up with his life and blows up the Rocket HQ which he is being held in, and then seeks solitary confinement. However, like the creature, Mewtwo gets too lonely and decides that he must lure a bunch of trainers (who he hates because they are of the same species as the Rockets) to clone their Pokemon so he can share his pain (much like how the creature desired a female creation).

The major difference between the two is that Mewtwo learns the error of his ways when he realizes that people can be nice to anyone, even a creation like him. The creature was not so lucky. The ending was sad in both stories, much different from what you would expect going in to watch them. If you want to watch an episode of Pokemon that is most like the novel Frankenstein, then I would recommend the very first movie, Mewtwo's story.

Fankenstein Pokemon

Frankenstein by Mary Shelly is a well-know book, praised for its ability to inflict horror, it's general mood, it's idea, it's action, and many other things.

That is our next English reading book. And although, we've started to read it and already know it's not all it's cracked up to be, I'm going to ignore that and just focus on the word Frankenstein.
Yeah, the left one is acually a mascot for a resturant
Let's get one thing clear: Pokemon is popular and has many fans of all ages, despite what you may think. Some of those fans are very talented artists. These fans may want to try their own at creating Pokemon. But, if your one of the older fans, making fluffy Pikachu rip offs isn't exactly the type of fun you have in mind. No, they want to make something that will stand out, send chills down your spine, they want to take the comftorble style of Pokemon and make something absolutely awe inspiring and/or mind-blowing out of it.

They want to make Frankenstein Pokemon.

The idea of Frankenstein is to take parts of the body that we all have from a numerous amount of sources and sew them together into one big heap new body. Surely some parts will be disfigured, and just plain won't look right fitted with the other parts. A body of that sort shouldn't even exit, let alone be alive. That is why Frankenstein is so awe inspiring. It's basically a glorified zombie minus the eating.

Pokemon has attempted to create scary looking monsters before. Giratina certainly has a frightful appearance, and one can't just simply look at Jinx without screaming their head off. But since the shows audience is primarily for young children, the company has refrained from making something too sinister. However thinking out of context, there is so much potential for scares. Imagine running into a wild Charizard or Steelix in real life. If you honestly think that you would have the gall to stand its intimidation and not run away in fear, then you must either have superpowers, or not know what I mean. These Pokemon can create natural disasters and obliterate you without so much moving. Tell me that you'd be okay.

Only if you believe in the magic of friendship I guess (Even then only Fluttershy would get out of this unscathed)

So win that in mind, we delve into Pokemons fearful potential. We observe the Frankenstein Pokemon. Keep in mind that all of these are parts of other Pokemon put together into one and then redrawn. You can try your own too if yoyu want to. This website listed here can give you inspiration.

I choose you, Freedom Writers! That doesn't have a good ring to it!

Times like these where I wished I picked a broader topic.

Too be truthful, even if my topic was more than just Pokemon, I don't really find anything to connect with Freedom Writers. I guess I'm just going to be grasping for straws this time around. Well, let's see.

In short, the movie is generally about a group of kids who were having a very bad life, being able to turn it around and graduate against all odds, because of their supportive and unorthodox teacher, Ms.G.

I would assume that there is a Pokemon episode that would be similar to that. Somewhere in the 800+ that have come out...A Pokemon that was headed down a bad rode until that met a trainer to help teach them the ways....There has got to be an episode like that.

Oh wait. How about the very first episode?

Pikachu., as you all may know, is virtually the mascot of the Pokemon franchise. It's furriness and cuteness is known throughout the world and it's electric attacks are pretty much a legend. But did you know that this obedient rat once had a dark side?

Indeed shortly after they first match, the iconic duo of Ash and Pikachu did not always get along.
Now, who knows what happened in Pikachu's past, there are theories that Oak kidnapped it from its family, stories of pure tragedy regarding it-but nothing can be confirmed. All that can be confirmed is that Pikachu was not a very likable Pokemon at the time, much like how those kids were not likable people.

Pikachu was also very vocal about his dislike of Ash and other humans (The way the Freedom Writers were vocal about disliking white people is comparable). Pikachu would end up shocking Ash several more times during the episode merely for spite, and laughed mockingly when Ash failed to catch a Pidgy and had a Ratatta steal his belongings. It seemed the two would not get along.

But Ash showed sacrifice. Much as Ms. Grunell had to suffer by taking two more jobs and put up with the hate she received, Ash protected Pikachu with his life when Sparrows came after them. It is that sacrafise that changed the attitude of both the Freedom Writers and Pikachu. They realized that this was a person who actually did care for them, and wanted them to succeed, and they were putting everything on the line to help them through it. With an opportunity like that, it is only fair that they take it.

Much like the Freedom Writers became successful graduates, Pikachu became a strong Pokemon on Ash's team (at least most of the time). If you looked at them now, you would never guess the difficult times they had. And that is how Pikachu is a lot like the Freedom Writers.

I feel I actually did a good job on this, way to go me!
